This term, we'll define rhetoric and visual separately, then bring them back together to think about what the combination of visual rhetoric expresses--narrative, analysis, history, aesthetic, materiality, composition, and so on. Each approach is epistemological, connected in some way to understanding, to the making of knowledge, and to the representation of what we know, what we mean, and in this case, how we mean.
